Dr. Walt Hart is Vice President of Natural Gas Liquids Research & Consulting for IHS Energy. Based in Houston, he joined IHS in 2011 with the acquisition of the international energy consulting firm Purvin & Gertz. Dr. Hart leads the publication of the IHS worldwide NGL multiclient subscription services as well as three annual international LPG Seminars in the US, Asia, and Latin America. He has also designed and taught workshops and training courses. His proprietary studies have involved business analysis and strategy, market studies, forecasting, valuations, and legal support. He works primarily in the area of natural gas liquids, but also has significant experience in petrochemicals, naphtha, alternative fuels, and bio-fuels.
Prior to Purvin & Gertz, Dr. Hart spent 14 years at Union Carbide Corporation and The Dow Chemical Company, as well as two years at Owens Corning Fiberglas. He held positions in process engineering, technical sales, research and development, finance, and strategic planning. He has also taught at the undergraduate level.
Dr. Hart received his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1986 from the University of Notre Dame, Indiana; a Master of Business Administration from the University of Charleston, West Virginia; and a Doctor of Philosophy in Chemical Engineering from West Virginia University. He is a registered Professional Engineer and a member of the Gas Processors Association and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.
