Isocyanates: Shifting Patterns in Trade

Thursday, 24 March

4:30 pm - 5:00 pm (CST) / 24/mar/2022 09:30 pm - 24/mar/2022 10:00 pm

Demand has bounced back from the lows experienced at the onset of the pandemic. However, the strong rebound has highlighted the fragility of supply security in the isocyanates industry. Huge capacity investment in Asia has benefited supply in that region, and the region is being looked to as a supply source for others that have not seen investment on a comparable scale. Large price arbitrages will facilitate increased Asian exports this year, while the attractiveness of capital investment in Asia will ensure that it will be a key supply source going forward for satisfying the strong isocyanate demand locally, but also in the West.
