William Chen is responsible for the Asia Olefin market research and consulting service at IHS Markit. Currently, William leads Asia Olefin team to cover market research for light olefins and derivatives. He is also responsible for promoting new business for olefin services in the region. He regularly provides key inputs of short-term & long-term product market services, commentary and analysis to Base Chemical Olefin services. He is also responsible for developing and enhancing models for product supply/demand, pricing, economic analysis and sensitivities. William was involved in many petrochemical studies, including Coal to Chemicals, PDH study, and Integrated Cracker/PDH/MTO/CTO economics analysis.
Prior to IHS Markit, William worked for ChemChina. At the company, William started as a chemical engineer in Lanzhou fiber plant, in Northwest China. Then, he moved back Beijing to focus on downstream application development. In the last two years with ChemChina, William took charge of sales and marketing responsibility in NE Asia.
William earned Ph.D from Chinese Academy of Sciences and majored in Polymer Chemistry and Physics. William is based in Beijing China.
