Principal Vice President, General Manager, Downstream & Chemical
Rich Wall is responsible for Bechtel’s global Downstream & Chemical business and a key member of the Energy senior leadership team. He brings a diverse background in legal, commercial, project management, and strategic planning experience in the energy, civil, power, infrastructure, and government sectors.
Rich has held positions of increasing responsibility in locations around the world on some of Bechtel’s largest EPC ventures, giving him a well-rounded understanding of our customers and global business operations.
Rich joined Bechtel’s Legal organization in 1998 supporting various Bechtel business units and later serving as general counsel of Bechtel’s Canadian affiliate, Bantrel. In 2007 Rich was appointed the Commercial Manager for the Oil, Gas and Chemicals global business unit, and then transitioned to project management positions on liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects in Nigeria and Australia. Rich followed as project manager of the Corpus Christi Liquefaction Project in Texas. In 2013, he relocated to Reston, Virginia, as the Manager of Strategic Planning and Marketing and Business Development for Bechtel’s Nuclear, Security & Environmental global business unit. In 2014, he was appointed as the President of Welded Construction, L.P., a Bechtel joint stock company. Rich returned to Houston in 2016 to rejoin the Energy global business unit and run Bechtel’s global pipeline business. Prior to assuming his current role, Rich worked as senior project manager on multiple Downstream and Chemicals projects focused in the Middle East.
Rich was elected principal vice president in 2010. He holds a B.A. from the College of William and Mary and a J.D. from the University of Virginia.
