War and oil: No going back, but what lies ahead?

Wednesday, 23 March

9:10 am - 9:30 am (CST) / 23/mar/2022 02:10 pm - 23/mar/2022 02:30 pm

War rages in Ukraine—including within 20 kilometers of a NATO member’s border. One oil superpower, the US, has with Europe led the ostracization from the global economy of another oil superpower, Russia. The third oil superpower—Saudi Arabia—faces a choice of siding with the US, its longtime military protector, or Russia, its more recent partner in managing oil supply. The future world oil order will be shaped by the actions of the three superpowers. While there is a range of potential outcomes, one thing we do know is that there is no going back. The world will not return to the pre-24 February 2022 status quo.
