The diversity of geographies, markets and industry structure has resulted in dramatically different fortunes for the various parts of olefins industry in EMEA during the pandemic. The comparative performance of the regions’ industries and broader pressures through the pandemic will set the course for the coming years; the impact on investment, the challenge of changing legislation and geopolitical uncertainty that persists. Sustainability, the evolving pandemic, and concern for increased military activity present risks to the industry. However, these pressures may bring opportunities, as well as present threats. How this shifting environment is likely to impact the olefins industries in Europe, the CIS and the Middle East will be the focus of this presentation.
