Private Capital’s role in Scaling Plastics Circularity

Tuesday, 22 March

5:10 pm - 5:30 pm (CST) / 22/mar/2022 10:10 pm - 22/mar/2022 10:30 pm
Every company and every industry will be transformed by the transition to net zero. We at BlackRock believe decarbonizing of the global economy is going to create the greatest investment opportunity of our lifetime. In plastics manufacturing, circularity solutions are moving from laboratory benches to global industrial scale solutions at an accelerated speed, increasing complexity due to the breadth of activities necessary to scale solutions. All this activity, which from a capital perspective has been driven by higher risk, early-stage investors will soon require massive amounts of capital. A growing pool of existing and new private funds, with decarbonization as a key theme, will cater to the various stages of these companies’ lifecycle. Using and transitioning among these sources of capital can create a sustained competitive advantage. Private infrastructure capital can be a long-term partner providing expertise in financing solutions and access to industrial partners for the entire value chain including the construction of energy, transportation, feedstock preparation and various forms of recycling infrastructure.
